It's true - many people feel more motivated when there are others around. Perhaps they feel like they can blend into the crowd; perhaps the act of going to the class is "an event" in their day which otherwise wouldn't have been so special unless they had that exercise "event".

In my lifestyle coaching with clients, I always ask what they like the best - how they feel most motivated to continue exercising each day. Every person has his/her personal answer. Some people like pushing themselves until they almost throw up... some people like the gentle challenge (and atmosphere) of yoga; two different spectrums. The most important things is that a person feels free enough to make a consideration of what's available - and even tries several to gain his/her stride. "What works" may be only a matter of what the person will repeat - and enjoy.

Group classes, group training, personal training, or solo training: it's a matter of what is most enjoyable and brings the person into personal rewards.
